Paris 2024: Paralympic Games opening ceremony on Place de la Concorde

In July 2021, Tony Estanguet, President of the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee, indicated that the opening ceremony would not be held in a stadium, but in the center of the capital, to give "access to hundreds of thousands of people". On the Champs-Elysées then? The Olympic Games Organizing Committee had indicated this summer that it wanted to hold the Paralympic Games ceremony on the Place de la Concorde, on August 28, 2024.

During the Olympic and Paralympic Games, this emblematic Paris square will host urban sports events: skateboarding, breakdance, BMX, 3X3 basketball. And for the Paralympic Games ceremony, it will be able to accommodate around"65,000 spectators", outside the stadium, just like the Olympic Games ceremony, scheduled to take place on the Seine. The closing ceremony is scheduled for September 8, at the Stade de France.

Nearly 4,400 athletes are expected to take to the stage between the Champs-Elysées, which will form a hate of honor, and the Place de la Concorde on August 28, 2024, in this prestigious setting made accessible to all.
