The French capital city is still getting ready for the launch of the 2024 Olympic Games. And the least we can say is Paris is thinking on a grand scale! This Monday December 13, 2021, for a press brief, Organization Committee Chairman Tony Estanguet has unveiled the guidelines of the opening ceremony.
Festivities are to kick off on July 26, 2024, and the opening ceremony is likely to make an impression! During the press brief, Estanguet revealed it will not take place within a stadium but on the Seine. A first in the History of the competition!

The audience is invited to attend this never-before-seen ceremony from the side, while the 10,500 athletes taking part in the event will parade on boats along the river, between the Pont d’Austerlitz and the Pont d’Iéna bridges. 600,000 Parisians and tourists can attend the show and discover the launch from the Olympic Seine.
All along the river path, installations similar to the ones in 2017 enable to discover performances delivering a foretaste of the competition, shining a light on sports represented, including BMX and diving. Athletes will eventually walk from last bridge to the Trocadero where a temporary opera is said to be erected.
