Hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, young director Federico Luis presents his new and first feature film, Simón de la montaña, selected for Critics' Week 2024 - the parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival that celebrates the first and second works in a filmmaker's life.
Unveiled in its world premiere, Simón de la montaña tells the story of 21-year-old Simon(Lorenzo Ferro). He introduces himself as a household cleaner. He says he doesn't know how to cook or clean a bathroom, but he doesn't know how to make a bed either. For some time now, he seems to be becoming someone else...
This isn't the first time Federico Luis will be taking part in the Cannes Film Festival! The Argentinian director already came to the festival to present his short film La Siesta in 2019, then selected in the official short film competition. La Siesta went on to win prestigious awards at various festivals, including Best Short Film at the Buenos Aires International Film Festival.
As Federico Luis' first feature film, Simón de la montaña is in competition for the Caméra d'Or 2024.
