September will see the world premiere of Jonás Trueba's new feature film, selected for the 2024 Quinzaine des Cinéastes, the parallel selection of the Cannes Film Festival, which runs from May 15 to 25.
The Spanish director once again calls on his two favorite actors, Itsaso Arana and Vito Sanz, to tell the story of Alex and Ale, who organize a party to celebrate their breakup after 15 years together. The news leaves their guests bewildered.
Opinion of the Quinzaine des Cinéastes: "To celebrate their break-up, a couple plan to throw a party. When they tell their friends and family, no one believes them. Jonás Trueba's new film, coming to Cannes for the first time, is a modern comedy of remarriage. Citing Stanley Cavell and Kierkegaard, Septembre sans attendre repeats the separation announcement over and over again, putting the couple back to the test of their love. Septembre sans attendre is a comedy that tenderly suggests that being a couple is also cinema."
