After the Official Competition,Acid, Semaine de la Critique and the Un Certain Regard selection, it's now the turn of the Quinzaine des Cinéastes (formerly Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) to finally reveal its selection for the2024 edition of the most eagerly awaited festival of the year by cinephiles of all stripes and from all over the world.
From May 15 to 25, journalists and film enthusiasts will be flocking to the Fortnight, a parallel selection totally independent of the Cannes Film Festival, which over the past decades has revealed new talents who have gone on to become well-known filmmakers such as Ken Loach, Spike Lee and the Dardenne brothers.
Julien Rejl, Délégué général de la Quinzaine des Cinéastes, has unveiled the official selection for the 56th edition. La Quinzaine, created by a community of filmmakers, aims to promote the emergence of free forms from diverse horizons, emphasizing the singularity of works rather than traditional classifications.
For this edition, 30 films have been selected, each representing a spirit of resistance to dominant ideology and discourse through their unique language. This selection reflects the Directors' Fortnight 's commitment to promoting bold, innovative cinematic works, maintaining an independent space for filmmakers and celebrating artistic diversity.

Short films in selection :
In 2024, the SRF - Société des réalisatrices et réalisateurs de films proudly celebrates British filmmaker Andrea Arnold, who will become the 22nd winner of the Carrosse d'Or, a prestigious award established in 2002 to reward a filmmaker for the audacity and quality of his or her films. The SRF was keen to celebrate "her free and courageous work, her delicate art of contrast in the space of desire and revolt. A great explorer of the margins, a dynamiter of social film codes." The Carrosse d'Or 2024 will be awarded during the opening ceremony of the Quinzaine des Cinéastes, on May 15.
And then, as usual, the 2024 selection of the Quinzaine des Cinéastes will be screened in Paris at the Forum des Images, for Parisians who would like to discover these works before their official release in cinemas!
