Woof! Once again this year, the Palm Dog crowned a pooch that wowed the jury with its performance at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.

The Cannes 2026 prize lists are starting to come in. After Critics' Week, we’re now finding out who took home the Palm Dog 2026! Created in 2001, the Palm Dog honors the dogs that most stole the scene in films from the official selection and the parallel programs.

After Kodi in Le Procès du Chien by Laetitia Dosch in 2024 and Panda, the Icelandic shepherd dog from L’Amour qu’il nous reste (Ástin Sem Eftir Er in its original version) by the Icelandic director Hlynur Pálmason last year, the toutou that heads off again this year with the honorary distinction (wouf) is none other than Yuri, le chiot from the film La Chienne by Chilean director Dominga Sotomayor presented at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes.

Synopsis : On an island off the Chilean coast, Silvia makes her living harvesting seaweed and leads a quiet life with her partner. The arrival of a stray puppy, Yuri, brightens her days. When the animal suddenly disappears, memories of her childhood come flooding back.

It should be noted that the dog Lola, featured in Clio Barnard's film I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning, which was also shown at the Directors’ Fortnight, received a special jury mention.
