Country: Germany
Four young girls — Alma, Erika, Angelika and Lenka — come of age on the same isolated farm in northern Germany, across four different eras. As the house evolves over the century, their lives appear to mirror one another despite the decades that separate them. The film probes the invisible violences women endure through time and the transmission of trauma, revealing how each character wrestles with memories, secrets, and shame.
Presented in competition at Cannes, the film was also selected as the German Oscar hopeful for Best International Feature for 2026. It marks Mascha Schilinski's second feature, following her debut Dark Blue Girl (2017), which has yet to be released in France. The movie is distributed by Diaphana, with cinematography by Fabian Gamper, whose visuals draw on the world of photographer Francesca Woodman— blurred bodies, a suspended, misty atmosphere, and direct camera looks.
