Andrei Zviaguintsev's Minotaure is in official competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, putting it in the running for the Palme d'Or.

The official selection of the Cannes Film Festival 2026 has just been unveiled, and Minotaure by Andrei Zviaguintsev is among the selected titles. It isn’t the first time the Russian filmmaker has graced the Croisette. With The Banishment, he had already made the official selection in 2007, a film for which his actor Konstantin Lavronenko earned the Best Actor Award. In 2011, it was Elena that was rewarded with the Special Jury Prize Un certain regard, before a notable return in 2014 in competition with Leviathan, crowned Best Screenplay. In 2017, his film Loveless took home the Jury Prize.
