Directed by Betty Thomas, Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 is the direct sequel to the adventures of the famous trio ofsinging squirrels, mixing animation and music. The script, co-written by Jon Vitti and Jonathan Aibel, once again features Jason Lee, with the voices of Justin Long and Jesse McCartney. In this episode, Alvin, Simon and Theodore must put their fame aside to go back to school and take part in a music contest. But the arrival of the Chipettes, their talented and charming rivals, upsets their plans. This second opus is still aimed at a young audience, in a joyful, rhythmic universe.
Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 will be available on Netflix from April 26, 2025 and already on Disney+.
Synopsis: Alvin, Simon and Theodore are back! This time, however, the Chipmunks have to put their celebrity aside and go back to school. They'll have to save their school's music program by entering a competition. From now on, the singing trio will have to face off against some very attractive rivals to win the $25,000 that is up for grabs.
Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 is aimed primarily at children aged 6 and over and families, with an even more musical and competitive tone than the first opus. The introduction of the Chipettes brings a new dynamic, both comic and full of rhythm, which could appeal to young fans of music and friendly competition. The film follows in the footsteps of modern family comedies such as Camp Rock or High School Musical, with a quirky, animal version. Adult viewers, or those in search of a more elaborate plot, will find it mostly light entertainment aimed at the younger set.
Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 continues the saga in a festive, family-friendly spirit, with lively songs, a happy world and the arrival of endearing new heroines. A film designed for children, punctuated by humor and music, to be enjoyed by the whole family.
