Our review of Hogwarts Legacy:

Playing time: 51 hours (story and all side quests completed).

Please note that this review was carried out on PS5, and that the graphic quality on Switch is far from the same. For experienced gamers, then.

Hogwarts Legacy is THE game we've been waiting for on next-gen consoles, offering an almost flawless performance in terms of graphics, gameplay and story. In terms of graphics, the game gives us a choice between fidelity mode, which pays tribute to the work of the developers, with photography on the mark and a game that's truly pleasing to the eye, and performance mode, which emphasizes the game's fluidity, to the detriment of the graphics. But don't worry: graphically speaking, performance mode does the job, offering unrivalled fluidity that's very pleasant in combat phases.

Now for the story: well-written and intriguing enough to make you want to keep going, it could have done with a bit more length and depth in some respects, especially the side quests involving the protagonist's four student friends. Only the quests concerning Sebastian Pallow and Poppy Sweeting are particularly well-developed, leaving Natsai Onai 's a bit on the back-burner. The one concerning Amit is dispensable.

As for the combat phase, everything is very well thought-out: the use of spells in a wheel of 4x4 evil spells is particularly ergonomic, allowing you to switch quite easily between the 16 spells that can be included in the wheel, the whole point being to find the best possible combination to make your life easier, but above all your battles. The combos and effects on enemies are also well thought-out, correlating with the effects of the spells described in the novels or films. Other spells are also available, in particular contexts, making the whole even more coherent and immersive. In short, excellent.

In addition, there's a huge map to search from top to bottom, the possibility of riding it on a broom, a Sombral or a Hippogriff, capturing and raising fantastic animals, crafting clothes, growing magic plants and making potions... So many different gameplay phases, harmoniously blended together, makingHogwarts Legacy a must-have for new-generation consoles.

How about a trip to the heart of the wizarding world, folks?
