Up until now, the La Défense Arena and theAccor Arena have hosted the majority of e-sport events in the Paris region, with French teams such as Vitality and Karmine Corp winning the day. But that's about to change, as gaming fans will be able to head to the Evry Arena in Essonne by summer 2024 to support their favorite players on today's most popular games, such as League of Legends, Valorant or Rocket League.
The Karmine Corp, one of the world's best-known French e-sport teams, wanted to create a stadium dedicated entirely to video game competitions, and they set their sights on the town ofEvry-Courcouronnes. No need to build one, since the Arènes de l'Agora will be able to accommodate them, with the aim of organizing show matches, official matches, live evenings and other exceptional events, accessible via a subscription system, as for a soccer club.
Why Essonne? Because it's the birthplace of Kameto, one of the founders of the structure, who is very attached to his origins. A resounding European first as a resident club, with a hall that can accommodate up to 3,000 people, some twenty times a year. A boon both for e-sport, which is thus changing dimension, and for the town, which wishes to show "that we are giving young people a chance and that we are looking to the future", according to the mayor of Évry-Courcouronnes, Stéphane Beaudet, to AFP.
