Are you looking for a weekend outing to share with kids, parents and friends? EVA launches The Lapins Crétins : Color Chaos, a VR arena game imagined with Ubisoft around the famous Rabbids license, in its Île-de-France venues (but also in France and around the world), since May 20, 2026. In a 500 m² space, two teams go head-to-head with virtual painting tools to cover as much terrain as possible in their camp's colors.
What's the concept behind this VR game? Each player wields a virtual painting tool. You need to aim, advance, dodge, claim space, and try to reclaim territory from the other team. The round relies as much on movement as on teamwork, so everyone can jump in at their own pace.
The game also offers a range of painting tools, different environments, and play styles that can vary from one session to the next. These contents will – at least that's what EVA explains – be regularly enriched to evolve the experience over time. Are you here for a family outing, a anniversaire, a EVJF, an EVG or a team activity? The onboarding remains straightforward for everyone.
On the gameplay side, in Color Chaos, players aren’t standing still. They move across the arena, target surfaces to cover, dodge the opposing team and tweak their strategy as the game unfolds. The appeal lies mainly in this collaborative way of playing—together in one shared space, not each in their own corner. You pick your weapon at the start, you map out a group strategy, and off you go on the adventure!
But don’t assume that simply plastering the board with paint will win you the game: you’ll also have to knock out your opponents, and if your teammates are out of the fight, you’ll need to paint them to heal them. From age 10, kids and adults can share a session together, even if they’re not seasoned gamers. Nobody gets left behind.
Jean Mariotte, CEO of EVA, sums up the project’s aim: "We wanted to create a game where nobody feels left out. Whether you’ve been playing video games your whole life or you’ve never touched a controller, Color Chaos puts you on the same level of fun. Virtual reality becomes a shared playground, and the Rabbids take it from there," he explains.
Our take on The Lapins Crétins - Color Chaos at EVA:
A pre-release session we played at EVA centers (EVA Paris-Est). At the start, you’re guided to the arena, equipped after a briefing. Everything is designed to help you grasp the game’s mechanics, and the rules are repeated a few times. Once suited up, in the game you pick your weapon, enter your name on a keyboard, and let the match begin! Teams battle it out with up to 10 players (5 vs 5; we played 4 vs 4).
Our recommendations:
Booking is simple: go to the EVA site for the location you want to visit and choose the game. On site, there isn't much more to add: just follow the instructions. Everything’s clear enough for everyone to understand what to do... both kids and parents — maybe even grandparents — not necessarily gamers. And everyone should have a good time!
Visually, it’s pretty, sharp, and clean. The colors lean pastel rather than garish, which is easy on the eyes. In the VR headset, there’s a lot of information, but it’s all intuitive enough for everyone to grasp. And in the game itself? A key tip: distribute the weaponry across the team.
There are three options, each delivering a different paint output—more offense or defense. The ArbwhAAhlète (a crossbow) lets you target enemies with precision but doesn’t paint much of the arena, unlike the Power Sploosh 3000 (a high-pressure sprayer) that floods the ground with paint up close, making it perfect for close-quarters skirmishes. For our part, we tested all three, but our hearts lean toward the Splasher, a middle ground that hits from a good distance while coating the arena well.
After that, it’s up to you to define your playstyle: more aggressive players will pick the Splasher or the Arbwaahlète to target opponents first, while those who prefer melee or simply want to paint the arena at top speed will go with the Power Sploosh 3000. It’s also a solid choice for team support, especially when healing is needed. Note, however, that it’s best not to have the entire team choose the same weapon, or you’ll end up with four of the same gear and a less effective strategy. A certain disadvantage could arise, particularly if the opposing team diversifies its loadout.
And of course, strategies come into play: split into groups to control the terrain, support a single attacker, etc. A truly promising way to spend hours of play, if you want to linger. A wonderful family outing idea to introduce VR or simply have fun with your kids.
With The Rabbids: Color Chaos, EVA adds an easy, drop-in option for a family weekend or a night out with friends. You come here to test VR, but also to share a session where everyone can join in, without needing to know the ins and outs of video games. A way to see whether the Rabbids will find, in the EVA arenas, a new playground that suits them.
