Bomb Squad is the brand-new action game offering thrill-seekers an adrenaline-pumping experience right in the heart of the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. It’s a high-stakes race against the clock, blending puzzles, adrenaline rushes, and strategic thinking... We gave it a try, and here’s what we thought! Located right in the heart of Paris, the Action Game Bomb Squad offers visitors an unprecedented immersive experience. Nestled in the 3rd arrondissement on boulevard Sébastopol, this adrenaline-pumping attraction invites thrill-seekers to solve a series of puzzles involving fake bombs (thankfully) set in a cinematic universe straight out of an action film. Since opening on January 15, 2024, participants find themselves racing against the clock, working together to defuse the threat through a mix of quick thinking, strategy, and pure adrenaline.

Bomb Squad Paris now offers two missions for teams of 2 to 6 players aged 7 and up, at 94 boulevard Sébastopol. The premise stays true to an action game: four timed challenges to cut the clock, then a final bomb to defuse, all within a one-hour session.

In Mission Mousse, the Numbers, Switch, Riddles and Memory challenges put communication, logic, and memory to the test before a finale where foam can engulf the room. This variant builds on the original paint-based mission, which we had tried. Also check out the presentation of Mission Mousse here.

In terms of experience, it's worth mentioning that Bomb Squad is the first venue in Paris to offer a "grid" room — a space featuring a luminous tile pattern on the floor where players must avoid certain squares, tapping into a popular trend in immersive experiences across the Channel. Among the other mini-games, expect a memory challenge, puzzles, and laser dodging — just like in a classic spy or action movie! The final room, of course, requires you to disarm a ticking bomb within a set time, which you'll have earned by success in the previous stages. But beware: if you lose, you might get caught in a paint splash (you’re provided with a jumpsuit before entering the last room, so keep an eye on your clothes and shoes if you prefer to stay clean...).

Our take on the original mission from start to painting:

An experience the editors obviously put through its paces—just for you! And to be honest, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality on offer. Each room pushes you to think or move as fast as you can, while showcasing a varied toolkit of skills in play (agility, speed, problem-solving, memory, etc.). At first you fumble a bit to grasp the challenge, and once you’ve got it, you sprint to push the pace and rack up as many points as possible to save time for the final challenge. It’s a bit physical without going overboard, and it makes for a great de-stress session with friends.

Personally, we especially enjoyed the laser room—not as easy as it looks to traverse (not the widest shoulders will do)—and the grid room, a true must-see for fans of this kind of challenge (and it happens to be our top score). It’s perfect for family, friends, or colleagues to have a blast—and that’s the main thing!

The final room, where you have to defuse a bomb, demands a cool head. You’ll remotely pilot a mine-clearing robot using a set of controllers, all while watching a screen, and you must take down 10 targets before the clock winds down from the previous stages. The robot is easy to pick up, but it requires coordination, excellent communication, and plenty of speed. In just over four minutes we managed to hit 6 of 10. Not bad, but the paint ultimately explodes in a very impressive show.

As for footwear and clothes, don’t worry—you’re fully covered head to toe. The risk of ruining your personal items is minimal. Do note that only about 5% of participants manage to defuse the bomb, so the experience almost guarantees a paint shower (a splash of water mixed in, like paintball). And for those lucky 5%, you’ll get a t-shirt and a comic book about the experience once it’s released (it's currently in development).

All in all, a truly great experience—fun to do and a fantastic outing for family, friends, or colleagues!

Missions can be booked on the official Bomb Squad Paris site. Plan for roughly 1h15 on site, including check-in and briefing.
