The Sicilian mafia is back! Mafia: The Old Country, the next installment in the famous franchise, will be released on PS5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam on August 8, 2025. Developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K, this new episode plunges players into the dark alleys of Sicily in the 1900s, a time when organized crime was booming.
This new opus offers an authentic plunge into the origins of organized crime. The game relies on the striking realism and rich narrative for which the series is renowned. The environments of 1900s Sicily will be recreated with meticulous precision, offering players a highly visual experience.

This new opus also marks a return to the roots for the franchise, bringing to the fore the elements that fans love. A little disclaimer before we start: we've never played any of the previous titles in the Mafia saga. For us, this game is a discovery of the criminal world of Hangar 13. And we were won over!
We follow the story of Enzo, a courageous young man who escapes from the mine where he's being held: after an argument with his bosses, and an escape in the middle of the night, he lands on the estate of Don Torrisi. The master of the region protects him and offers him a job: Enzo thus enters the world of the mafia.
Mission after mission, Enzo proves his worth in the organization, grows in stature, and his world gradually expands. Enzo's journey and evolution are logical and gradual: you don't suddenly become a gun-toting pro, nor do you become the Godfather of Sicily overnight.
Mafia - The Old Country is more like an interactive film: the story is linear, the characters evolve in their own way, and the chapters follow one another quickly and easily. The player's choices have little influence on the game's overall story, and we don't really deviate from the planned scenario.
The story, however, is fascinating, very well realized and supported by magnificent graphics. The game is beautiful, rich in detail, and this is its greatest strength. We discover a Sicily of the 20th century that is still very traditional, and marked by great violence. Behind the blossoming trees, Italian villas, colorful fruit and sunshine lie smuggled spirits, knife fights and turf wars. The Hangar 13 team has paid great attention to the game's overall setting, but also to the small details that immerse us in the story: the gestures of the characters, their expressions, the life that animates the background are all very realistic. There may be a few bugs in character animation, but they don't really affect the game's mechanics.
Mafia - The Old Country is easy to get to grips with: the gameplay is straightforward, and combat poses no particular problems, just like the running and infiltration phases. Experienced players may regret this slight lack of challenge, but this can be justified by the fact that the game prefers to concentrate on its story.
The whole story can be completed in just over a dozen hours: some will regret not being able to spend more time in this universe, while others will appreciate having a story that can be completed in a reasonable time.
As far as we're concerned, Mafia - The Old Country is a highly enjoyable game, transporting us into an exciting universe. The game is beautiful, easy to follow, and offers a good dose of entertainment. A good choice for those who like to immerse themselves in history.
