What felt like a burst of pure nostalgia caught us completely off guard on March 27, 2025, during the Nintendo Direct. Without any warning, over a decade after its last appearance, the Japanese company revealed a brand-new installment in the Tomodachi Life series, through a trailer that was both unexpected and warmly welcomed. The game, Tomodachi Life: A Dream Life, is set to launch on April 16, 2026, on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
While waiting to dive into this new adventure or to see if the game piques your interest before making a purchase, you can try out the free demo of Tomodachi Life on Switch and Switch 2, starting March 25, 2026.
So we find the famous Miis in a city that looks like paradise: flower gardens, beach and coconut palms, lighthouse, cafés and boutiques... It's all there for the little pixelated characters to enjoy a dream life. The trailer doesn't reveal much about the game at the moment, but we can expect a cosy game for all ages.
In 2014, Tomodachi life was released for Nintendo 3DS. This simulation game lets players take care of their Miis and help them live a good life on the island, through various activities. To make this life idyllic, players have to solve the various problems of the inhabitants: satisfy a hunger, a thirst, comfort a sad Mii, help it find love, change the decoration of the house...
Many aspects of the game are customizable, such as the Mii's outfits or house decorations. In the 2014 game, up to 100 Miis could live in apartments, marry and have children.
In a new trailer released on September 12, 2025, we discover the Mii customization options, from the physical to the voice. We can also see the different ways in which players must look after their characters, the interactions between Miis, and some of the wacky activities that await players.
We're eagerly awaiting the release of this highly anticipated new version. Mark your calendars for spring 2026, when a whole new adventure begins!
