And what if your next Fortnite match began with heroes from another battlefield? Overwatch lands in the Battle Royale of Epic Games with Tracer, Mercy, Genji and D.Va, in the modes Battle Royale, Zero Build, Recharge and Blitz, to accompany Act III of Rivalries around the Foundation and the Ice King, from May 14 to June 4, 2026. Epic Games and Blizzard Entertainment deliver here a crossover centered on playable characters, locations inspired by Overwatch, gameplay items and rewards to unlock as a community. The aim: bring Blizzard’s game mechanics onto the Fortnite island without asking players to switch game universes.
In practice, this Fortnite x Overwatch collaboration brings in several landmarks familiar to fans of Blizzard's shooter. The Busan Sanctuary, the Hanamura courtyard, the King’s Row tower, and bases inspired by the Watchpoint: Gibraltar observatory appear on the Battle Royale island. These zones aren’t just scenery; they also host hero-driven interactions. Tracer and Ana can offer services, while Genji and D.Va can be recruited as allies if you catch them at the right moment. Do you enjoy exploring the map while hunting for the tactical edge that could swing a match? These additions invite you to rethink your movement, especially in squads.
Two items inspired by Overwatch are also changing the tempo of battles. Tracer’s pulse pistols enable a first-person perspective, with the ability Blink to zip short distances, and Recall to rewind a few seconds when the situation turns sour. The Angel’s Halo, meanwhile, lets you lock onto an ally with a healing beam to restore health and shields. It also grants the option to glide for repositioning or to disengage from a bad engagement. These additions give Fortnite players fresh, easy-to-understand options, while nodding to Blizzard’s iconic roles.
The event also features rewards tied to the Rivalries tab, including the Overwatch convoy breach anomaly, the Orca MV-261 shuttle, cache stashes, Mercy’s emblem tag, and the Overwatch logo tag. The four heroes—Tracer, Mercy, Genji, and D.Va—are also available as outfits, complete with matching accessories and styles compatible with the Fortnite LEGO modes. An electric Porsche Cayenne from Overwatch caps off the drop, featuring wheels and four custom stickers.
The arrival of Overwatch in Fortnite gives players plenty of extra reasons to jump back into a match, whether to try items inspired by Tracer and Mercy, push through the challenges, or unlock the heroes’ outfits. Until June 4, everyone will be able to see how these mechanics fit into Battle Royale, especially when a quick move, a well-timed heal, or a newly recruited ally can swing the end of a round.
