Paris Design Week 2026: Japanese design set to depart Le Bon Marché soon

The journey to Japan at Le Bon Marché is drawing to a close, and this design route will stay on view until September 20, 2026.

Paris Design Week loves to circulate ideas as much as it welcomes visitors. Department stores, galleries, museums, private mansions, ateliers, and more intimate addresses become creative pit stops where know-how exchanges, cultures cross paths, and influences from elsewhere take on new shapes. Beyond the professional circle, the event shows how designers reinterpret forms, usages, and heritage to push boundaries. A different way to explore Paris and feel the pulse of contemporary creation, from September 10 to 19, 2026.

For its fourth appearance at Design Week, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche is threading Japan through its autumn program with Super Japon, a route that runs throughout the store, including the Home spaces, from September 9–20, 2026. Here, the Land of the Rising Sun inspires without acting as mere décor: the Mobilier National shines a light on the creative bridges between France and Japan, FRAMA explores the olfactory register with a scented installation, while USM imagines a contemplative pavilion blending architecture, Michael Kenna’s photographs and Samsung devices. The Japanese influence extends to lines, materials and usages, with references to Mingei, wabi-sabi or Mono-ha, but also pieces by Isamu Noguchi or Charlotte Perriand. A get-away to the archipelago… in a design edition.
