Paris Design Week 2026: hidden installations tucked away in the city’s finest private mansions and Parisian showpieces

Private mansions, historic courtyards, listed buildings… during Paris Design Week, contemporary design shakes up venues already steeped in history.

Old stones, modern lines... during Paris Design Week, the dialogue between heritage and creation takes on new depth. Paris Design Week runs from September 10–19, 2026, and invites design to occupy buildings rich in history, where each installation must respond to architecture, light, a garden or a perspective already present. The result isn’t merely a work or object; it’s a new way of looking at the venue that welcomes it. A meeting that makes you want to follow the designers as much as to rediscover certain Parisian monuments.

Hôtels particuliers, cour d’honneur, orangeries ou bâtiments historiques offrent ainsi aux créateurs un cadre qui ne manque pas de caractère. Some extend the lines of the decor, others play with contrast, but the space is never neutral: it shapes the forms, the materials, the volumes and sometimes even the way people move around the works. That’s the whole point of these in situ installations, designed for a specific place rather than merely placed there. It’s a chance to view familiar addresses from a new angle, to discover more intimate spots, and to let centuries of architecture mingle with today’s design.
