Each year in September, Paris Design Week puts contemporary creativity in the spotlight across the city. The event reveals what’s driving design today, from new ways of shaping objects to research on how we use them, their forms, and the methods by which they are made. From 10 to 19 September 2026, the program also offers a solid snapshot of the concerns shaping the discipline. Among them, one question inevitably takes center stage: how to create without constantly starting from scratch? Reuse then steps into the conversation, with materials that are recovered, transformed and put back into circulation.
On the side of durable design, reuse, and upcycling, nothing is wasted—and more importantly, not everything transforms in the same way. Used textiles can completely change their function, production scraps find a new use, and certain wood species open up new markets. Behind these projects lie very concrete questions: how to extend a material’s life, cut down on waste, or prioritise locally available resources? These are the paths designers are exploring, without sacrificing aesthetics.
