Newly opened in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, Royal Beer Spa offers an incredibly relaxing interlude, with a range of treatments - for one person only! - around the theme of beer. On the program: Nordic sauna, hop bath and relaxation in front of a Himalayan salt wall. Absolute relaxation guaranteed.

At first glance, a beer spa can be off-putting. Imagining yourself in warm beer, with the smell of the third day of the Fête de l'Huma, is not the stuff of dreams. But it's nothing of the sort. The tradition of the beer bath dates back to the Middle Ages, when its ingredients were used in folk medicine.

Because when we talk about a beer bath, we're not actually talking about bathing in beer as such, but in an infusion of its ingredients: malt, hops and brewer's yeast. Rich in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants, these three components have virtues for the body, skin and hair, but also for the mind - against anxiety and insomnia, among other things.

There's no fermentation and no unpleasant alcoholic odor, but many benefits: softening and nourishing the skin, strengthening hair and nails, relaxing joints and the mind. Ingrid and Mickaël experienced beer spas for the first time during a trip to Central Europe in 2020.

The two founders of Royal Beer Spa say: "We're avid travelers, and we're convinced that this kind of experience can completely change your state of mind and the course of your life. That's what happened to us. It's really more than a concept for us, it's the realization of a dream to undertake as a couple and share with the French what we've experienced while traveling."

In the meantime, several beer spas have opened in Paris, but Royal Beer Spa easily tops the list thanks to its multi-sensory beer trail... entirely private. This is undeniably the strong point of this oh-so-relaxing establishment: whether you're one or eight people, each of the 3 stages of the course is reserved for you. Immersion and absolute privacy guaranteed.

Spanning 150m2, the Royal Beer Spa experience, perfectly explained in advance by the adorable couple Ingrid and Mickaël, consists of three stages. The experience logically begins with a 15-minute Nordic sauna to open the pores, prepare the skin and relax the muscles.

The second step is the beer bath. In a large vaulted room - the address has been tastefully decorated - four long tubs contain the famous infusion of hop flowers, malt and brewer's yeast. If you're a stickler for cleanliness, note that unlike traditional spas with pools, where the water remains the same for everyone, at Royal Beer Spa, participants bathe in new, single-use water that is then changed. In addition, all the spa's facilities are spotlessly clean.

In the bath, 30 minutes of intense relaxation in warm, bubbling water. The experience is as intimate as it is inviting, with several beer taps next to the bathtubs, where you can pour yourself pints of organic craft beers at your leisure.

At the moment, a refreshing white and a generous brown, subject to change depending on collaborations with Parisian breweries and microbreweries. What a pleasure to drink a cold beer in a hot bath; the experience is all the more complete, from the warmth to the scent to the taste of the beer.

The third and final stage of the Royal Beer Spa experience takes place in the halotherapy room. For 15 minutes, participants can relax in front of a backlit Himalayan salt wall (it looks like natural light!), renowned for its respiratory benefits and the relaxation it provides. Lying or sitting on soft cushions, you can meditate to your heart's content. Then it's back to the surface and the city, after a cup ofhop infusion, with the desire for the experience to continue again and again.

Royal Beer Spa unveils an upscale experience that's both friendly and relaxing. A true haven of peace, out of time and far from the hustle and bustle of the city, the experience is made all the more delightful by the fact that you can spend an hour with no one at all, accompanied simply and discreetly by the owner, who knocks on the door to take you on to the next stage.
