Following the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, it's time for the Paralympics, taking place from March 6 to 15, 2026! About ten days during which athletes will demonstrate incredible feats across six adapted sports designed for various disabilities. Unlike the Olympic Games, where the French team was large, here there are only about 13 athletes, and they won't be competing in all the disciplines on the program.
The largest delegation is in para alpine skiing, with eight athletes, promising a good chance of medals if everything goes smoothly. While it may seem ambitious to aim for around twenty medals with such a small team, the fact that a single athlete can compete in multiple events opens up more opportunities for podium finishes if they’re in top shape. For example, in 2022, France sent 15 athletes and returned home with 12 medals!
It’s also important to note that guides are officially classified as athletes and are awarded medals in case of a podium finish, as visually impaired skiers simply cannot compete without them. Technically, the team consists of 13 athletes and 2 guides.
