On August 8, 2026, it will be on Swedish soil that Paris Saint-Germain faces Manchester United for a real, full-scale test ahead of the new season. A historic showdown and a prestige duel in the wake of the FIFA World Cup.

This year, during the summer period, club players will head back to their national teams for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. After this tournament, they’ll need to get back into the swing of things with their teammates, and Paris Saint-Germain has already planned a friendly match in August, before the official restart. This pre-season match will take place in Sweden, against the English club Manchester United, on August 8 at 5 p.m..

The last showdown between the two clubs dates back to the 2020/2021 season, when the Parisians took the bragging rights in the Champions League group-stage clashes. If Paris Saint-Germain were to win the European title again this spring, they would still have one more match in August—the UEFA Super Cup—scheduled for the 12th of the month, which would set up two high-profile encounters before the season officially kicks off.
