Nestled in the heart of the 13th arrondissement of Paris, the piscine Joséphine Baker is an offbeat spot that delights swimmers. What sets it apart? It sits right on the Seine, offering sweeping views of Paris. The facilities of the espace aquatique de la piscine include a 25-meter outdoor pool and a 500 m² sun deck. Perfect for enjoying sunny days in the water.
The Joséphine Baker Pool carries on a tradition of swimming on the Seine that dates back to the 19th and 20th centuries, when the river hosted floating swimming baths. As awareness of river pollution grew, these pools adopted filtration and chemical treatment systems and stopped using water from the Seine. After World War II, only two such facilities remained: the Deligny baths and the Royal Pool. The Deligny Pool, then the last survivor of these Seine swimming establishments, sank in 1993. In 2006, the Joséphine Baker Pool was opened, thus renewing this tradition of swimming on the Seine.
Whether you're a seasoned swimmer or simply looking to unwind, the Joséphine Baker Pool is the place to be. Its 25-meter pool is perfect for laps, while the sun deck offers a sun-kissed space to relax. The main draw, however, remains its exceptional location on the Seine. Imagine doing a few laps while admiring the river flowing calmly by. An unconventional way to enjoy the delights of Paris, especially when the sun beams down on the capital! Best of all, the venue is regularly buzzing with events and a fine slate of programming, including exhibitions!
