A little bit of climbing along the Seine, interested? For Paris Plages, you and your family can tackle a climbing wall during free, open-to-all sessions starting July 4, 2026.

Paris Plages is back from July 4, 2026, and this year a giant climbing wall is coming to the Seine quays! A bit of sport after a sun-soaked session, if the heat isn’t too fierce! Set up at Place du Châtelet, between Pont Neuf and Pont au Change, along the Voie Georges Pompidou, this wall will be free until August 2 next.

Arkose aims to introduce the sport of bouldering to as many people as possible, accessible to all, in a safe environment. With this wall, the 24th sport activity in France lands right in the heart of Paris for the summer, with an on-site registration system, no prior booking required. You’ll be able to enjoy a 12-meter-long wall for adults, with 24 holds and six levels, letting both regulars and beginners have a great time.

As for the kids, they’ll have their own space with 8 meters of wall just for them! If there aren’t any private lessons, instructors will be on hand to guide and advise. Up to 25 people can be in the area at once on a first-come, first-served basis. But don’t panic—you won’t have to wait long to climb, as you’re allowed 30 minutes of practice, before the next wave arrives, from 10:00 to 20:30.

Also on the agenda are playful challenges sprinkled throughout the event, including a suspension beam where you’ll have to hang on as long as possible to try to win prizes! Those who complete at least one block during their session will be entered into a draw, and a particularly high-level block awaits the most determined to try and win, notably a year-long subscription. Not to mention Run & Climb sessions, fitness meetups, and a weekly festive late-night with a DJ.
