In Saint-Ouen, the Paris Fire Brigade Museum houses some truly unique collections detailing the history of these fire hero figures. Don’t miss your chance to explore them for free during this winter break.

In Paris and the Île-de-France region, you can really find museums on just about every subject... If you didn’t already know, it’s in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, in the petite crown of Paris, that you’ll discover the Firefighters Museum of Paris. Boasting unique collections that tell the story of more than two centuries of Parisian fire service history, it’s a family-friendly spot worth visiting each time it opens its doors to curious visitors and enthusiasts alike.

Indeed, the museum isn't open all day long. So, when it offers guided tours, you’d be wise to seize the opportunity! Whether for kids or adults, this unusual spot never fails to surprise and inspire, with its historical collections centered around firefighters.

Time to pull out the calendar and get ready for upcoming guided tours: the firefighters are welcoming visitors on February 25 and 26, as well as March 4 and 5, 2026. These tours, scheduled during the February break, are open to children aged 8 and up, as well as adults. Best of all, they’re free, but reservation required only.

From firefighting outfits dating back centuries, to collections of helmets used by the Paris fire department during firefighting operations or ceremonies (and parades, such as the July 14 parade), to the various axes, spears and immense archive collections of fires that have occurred in Paris and the surrounding region... It's an immersion in the history of the Sapeurs-pompiers de Paris, created in 1811 by Napoleon 1st.

The highlight of the visit is undoubtedly the many vintage fire trucks with their iconic red bodies—still fully operational—that patiently line up inside the station. Indeed, the tour takes place right at the Paris fire brigade's station in Saint-Ouen, which remains actively in service. For these guided visits, keep in mind that entry is free and open to everyone, but reservations are a must and should be confirmed! It’s a perfect family outing (including with teenagers or young children) or a fun activity with friends during the winter school holidays!
