A queer cabaret where the audience takes power on stage... That's the concept behind Panic at the Queer Show, a participatory improv show that made its return to Boom Boom Villette on September 11, 2025 for season 2, on a first evening marked by a festive and inclusive atmosphere.
On the Boom Boom Villette stage, the artists throw themselves without a net into an improvisation game entirely shaped by the spectators. The principle is simple: you propose the styles, themes or constraints, and they manage to embody them, in a joyous chaos orchestrated by host Patsy Magret. Between open stages, solos, battles and crazy challenges, each moment becomes unique, as nothing is written in advance.
In the first part, three young queer talents - La Tata des Bois, Penny'Mean and Amandine Praline - face off against the public's choice before one of them joins the big show. Then it's time for the guests: performer La Briochée, revealed in Drag Race France Season 1, and guest judge Someone, who guarantees both firm and benevolent refereeing.
The atmosphere is designed as a participatory queer cabaret, open to all generations. Audiences aren't just spectators: they become the real driving force behind the show, imposing improbable music, unexpected accents or zany challenges. Feeling like a playmaker? Here, your voice counts and your ideas come to life under the spotlight.
It's an experience for those who like to be surprised, who are looking for a quirky, collective evening, or who want to support queer creation on stage. On the other hand, if you prefer a more structured show, with no surprises or interaction, this concept is unlikely to meet your expectations.
The venue, located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, welcomes the public from 8:30pm, with bar, catering and giant screen to prolong the experience. Admission is free, but reservations are required, as places are limited. So you can come as a group, a family or as a duo to enjoy this code-breaking evening.
The pre-show starts at 8:45pm, followed by the open stage at 9pm, before the big show at 10pm. Each stage is conceived as a moment of build-up, where the audience's energy feeds directly into the artists' performance. As Patsy Magret sums up:"Come with your energy to the power of 1000, your friends and family: we'll take care of the rest. Here, we deconstruct, we laugh, we spill - and above all, we improvise big time.
Our review of Panic at the Queer Show:
The Sortiraparis editorial team attended a drag show... And of course, humor and good humor were the order of the day, for an evening as zany as it was lively. At the helm was Patsy Magret, a hostess as captivating as she was dynamic, who masterfully set the pace for an evening of challenges, lipsinc and good-naturedness.
For that's what the evening was all about: a succession of lipsinc and battles, each crazier than the last, with three participants (drag queen and drag king). Now, you'll tell us, it's not very crazy: no runway, no theatrical improvisation in the strictest sense of the term... But that's not what we come here for: we come for the good mood, for the exercise of improvising to music, and for the interaction with the stage. And don't think that the audience remained quiet... on the contrary: they had a hand in a lot of things, from the choice of music to the constraints imposed. Quite simply, there was never a dull moment! That is, until some of them ended up on stage for an explosive finale.
It's an evening for the general public, and everyone is welcome. The improv cabaret saw a very special guest, La Briochée, propose several lipsinc (which she finally won, a revenge on her Drag Race France season...), joined by the winner of the first part, in this case Penny'Mean. New challenges followed, again under the watchful eye of Patsy Magret and Someone.
In short, we loved it and can't wait for the next show!
Launching this new season at Boom Boom Villette, Panic at the Queer Show transforms the back-to-school season into a field for artistic experimentation. This isn't a show you watch passively, it's an evening where you participate, laugh and let yourself be carried away by the whirlwind of improv. It's a format designed to unite, surprise and give free rein to audacity.
