Remember: in 2022, regulars at the Fête de l'Huma were faced with a big change. A year ago, France's biggest popular festival was moving. The Fête de l'Humanité left its historic site in Seine-Saint-Denis and moved much further south. The Fête de l'Huma decided to set up shop in Essonne . The reason for the move? The arrival of the Olympic Games. TheAire des Vents in Dugny, near La Courneuve, is set to host the media village for the 2024 Olympic Games.
The Fête de l'Huma therefore had no choice but to leave this playground and move to the former Base 217 in Essonne. For the second year running, the Fête de l'Humanité will take over the site on September 15, 16 and 17, 2023.
A change that is not without consequence for festival-goers, since this site is much further away from the capital. So how do you get to Base 217 in Plessis-Pâté? Whether you opt for public transport, car or two-wheeler, here are a few practical tips for getting to the new Fête de l'Huma site!
If you're coming from Paris: take the RER D to Juvisy, then the RER C to Brétigny-sur-Orge station. Due to work on the RER C on September 16 and 17, 2023, traffic will be suspended between Paris Austerlitz and Juvisy station from the evening of September 16 at 10:47 pm (last departure Paris Austerlitz > Brétigny).
If you are coming from the south of Essonne: take the RER C to Brétigny.
If you're going back to Paris, take the RER C to Juvisy, then change and take the RER D to Paris.
Please note that a special service with extra trains is planned to return to Paris with non-stop journeys on RER line C.
If you're heading for the south of Essonne :
Once at Brétigny-sur-Orge station. You'll need to walk to the entrance to the site, which is 2 kilometers from the Brétigny-sur-Orge station. Allow 30 minutes on foot or 10 minutes by bike. Alternatively, opt for one of the free shuttles, which will be waiting for you outside the Brétigny-sur-Orge station. Allow 10 minutes for the shuttle, then another 15 minutes' walk.
These free shuttles will run from the Gare de Brétigny (avenue Pasteur).
No shuttles from Oranges-bois de l'Épine RER D station.
In addition, special shuttles, reserved and adapted for people with reduced mobility, the disabled, pregnant women and young children, are scheduled for September 15, 16 and 17. Departure will be from the station forecourt.
If you're planning to bring your two-wheeler to Base 217, you should know that the event has a dedicated parking area. This two-wheeler parking is free on presentation of your Fête de l'Humanité admission ticket. It is accessible to motorized two-wheelers via Gate B, and to bicycles via the pedestrian entrance on rue Latécoère (Le Plessis-Pâté). There's also a free helmet locker on site.
What about the opening hours of this two-wheeler parking lot? It's open from 12pm to 10pm on Friday, from 9am to 10pm on Saturday, and from 9am to 5pm on Sunday.
Parking facilities are also available for festival-goers wishing to drive to Base 217. Please note that these public parking lots are accessible via Gates B and J on the site. Your access gate will be issued according to your geographical location.
What about opening hours? They are open on Fridays from 12pm to 10pm, on Saturdays from 9am to 10pm, and on Sundays from 9am to 5pm. Please note that beyond these hours, you will be refused entry to the parking lot. Price: 30 euros per vehicle. Click here to reserve your parking space.
Once you've parked, it's a 10-15 minute walk to the entrance gates of the Fête de l'Huma.
The Fête de l'Huma also has a dedicated parking lot for people with disabilities and reduced mobility, located right next to the festival entrances. Parking in this parking lot is free on reservation and on presentation of the carte mobilité inclusion (CMI). The parking lot is accessible via Porte B or Porte J.
