Bad news for RER C commuters planning to use public transport in the coming weeks. For 4 consecutive weekends, from September 16 to October 8, 2023, no trains will run on this line between Invalides, Juvisy and Massy Palaiseau stations. So what are the alternatives? We tell you all about it.

The next few weekends are not going to be easy for RER C users. Due to major works, SNCF has announced that traffic will be partially interrupted for 4 consecutive weekends. More specifically, no trains will be running between Invalides and Juvisy stations, and between Invalides and Massy Palaiseau via Pont de Rungis, in both directions.

So, when is this partial closure scheduled? SNCF warns that this traffic disruption will affect the weekends of September 16 to 17, September 23 to 24, September 30 to October 1 and October 7 to 8, 2023.

During this work period, many stations will be inaccessible to passengers, including Ivry-sur-Seine, Vitry-sur-Seine, Choisy-le-Roi and Athis-Mons, as well as Massy-Verrières, Pont de Rungis and Orly Ville.

In Paris, there will be no trains at Musée d'Orsay, Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, Paris Austerlitz or Bibliothèque François-Mitterrand stations either. Bad news, then, for those planning to travel to Brétigny from Paris on September 16 and 17 for the Fête de l'Huma.

In addition to this announced closure, no trains will run south of Juvisy on Sundays September 17 and 24, and October 1 and 8, from 10pm.

In a press release, SNCF Réseau explains that these disruptions are necessary to enable the"renewal of track equipment at Vitry-sur-Seine", as well as"catenary regeneration between Choisy-le-Roi and Juvisy" and"redevelopment work on the Massy Valenton line, with the creation of a second track dedicated to TGVs".

So what can be done during this interruption to RER C traffic, which is due to last for 4 consecutive weekends? What are the possible alternatives? SNCF Réseau has announced the introduction of replacement buses between Saint-Martin d'Etampes / Dourdan and Paris Austerlitz, in both directions.

The SNCF also advises passengers to use connecting metro and bus lines, and in particular to take the RER D and B from Paris to Juvisy, Massy Palaiseau or Massy-Verrières.
