The title "BRILLANTE" chosen for this project echoes the meaning of the ancient Greek "Phaidra": literally "Brilliant", underlining the brilliance and modernity of this new interpretation.

"The alexandrines that make up Phèdre contain an implicit dance and musicality that it's important today to exalt for their own sake outside the frameworks and conventions of theater.

In this contemporary oratorio, the sensory, directly evocative potential of Racine's poetry outweighs the details of storytelling and narration.

The reduced instrumentarium (piano, guitar, lute, percussion) leaves plenty of room for vocal work, particularly in the creation of spoken rhythms chanted in a post-slam style, alternating with swirling melodic flights of fancy in counterpoint.
