This Thursday, May 8, 2025, France Télévisions commemorates the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe with special programming. Starting at 4:15pm, watch a special program presented by journalist Julian Bugier, accompanied by Nathalie Saint-Cricq, France Télévisions' political editorialist, and Olivier Wieviorka, historian specializing in the Second World War.
Then, from 9:05pm, it's time for a grand concert. Simply entitled " Le concert de la paix ", this musical evening will be broadcast live on France 2. Held on the Avenue Champs-Élysées, at the foot of the legendary Arc de Triomphe, this grand concert will " extend the day of commemoration " and celebrate fraternity, " in order to remember and build peace ".
For the occasion, a host of national and international artists from the world of variety, as well as soloists and instrumentalists, will be taking to the stage to " light the flame of hope ".
This May 8, get ready to see singer Zaz, artist Calogero, Beninese singer-songwriter Angélique Kidjo, famous Greek singer Nana Mouskouri and Quebecer Natasha St-Pier live on France 2. Also announced are Olivia Ruiz, trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf, Lebanese singer Hiba Tawaji, violinist Renaud Capuçon, French soprano Julie Fuchs, Franco-Georgian pianist Khatia Buniatishvili and French coloratura soprano Sabine Devieilhe.
They will all " perform classical music and popular songs, accompanied by the Republican Guard Orchestra and the French Army Choir ", explains France Télévisions in a press release. The " Peace Concert " will be presented by Stéphane Bern.
