A special, never-before-seen documentary to mark the 40th anniversary of the Victoires de la musique! That's what France Télévisions is offering you this summer. To be seen on France 2 on Thursday August 21, 2025, the documentary " Les Victoires de la Musique, 40 ans d'émotion en chansons " will look back on the history of this ceremony and, more broadly, on the contemporary history of music in France.
Through a series of archives, the film will take viewers on a journey back in time, filled with memories and melodies. It's an opportunity to see how music has evolved over time with public tastes.
Testimonials from " great names in French variety and culture, including artists who were revealed to the general public with their first Victoire de la Musique " are also announced, including those ofAlain Souchon and his sons Pierre and Ours, Carla Bruni, Vianney, Philippe Katerine, Clara Luciani, Rim'K, Zaho de Sagazan, Vincent Delerm, Manu Katché, Zazie (one of France's most awarded artists) and Jack Lang, Minister of Culture at the very first Victoires de la Musique ceremony in 1985.
That year, the musical event took over the Moulin-Rouge in Paris. Broadcast on Antenne 2, the ceremony honored the likes of Michel Jonasz, Jeanne Mas, Tina Turner, Serge Gainsbourg, Telephone, Jean-Michel Jarre and Dorothée.
40 years on, the categories have evolved, but the awards continue to pour in. Last February, for the 40th anniversary of the Victoires de la Musique awards, Zaho de Sagazan, Gims, Solann, Pierre Garnier and Santa each received a trophy.
