For her return to Paris, Agnes Obel offered no less than three (sold-out) concerts at the Salle Pleyel on Monday 15, Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 September 2025. Once again, the Berlin-based Danish artist has thrilled us with her modern melodies and her transcendental, ethereal voice. We attended the first of these three Paris shows. We tell you all about it!

In just four albums in 10 years, Agnes Obel has truly established herself as a key figure in contemporarychamber pop. A peerless composer, gifted author, talented pianist and singer with a bewitching voice, the Danish-born artist has seduced the ears of many with her spellbinding melodies, blending neo-classical music and cinematic electronic soundscapes.

In Paris, Agnes Obel can count on a solid fan base. Having already performed at La Flèche d'Or, La Cigale, Le Trianon, L'Olympia, Le Grand Rex, Casino de Paris, La Seine Musicale and La Philharmonie de Paris, Agnes Obel is now packing her bags for the Salle Pleyel, a Parisian venue already occupied by the artist in 2012 as part of the Days Off Festival.

This time, the singer and musician returns with no less than three concerts on September 15, 16 and 17, 2025, all of which sold out! We attended the first of these three Paris concerts, on Monday. We tell you all about this truly timeless musical experience!

After waiting for the sound of birdsong,Agnes Obel and her three musicians took to the stage at 9pm, in a darkened auditorium. Unlike many artists who opt for the color black, the Dane and her acolytes light up the stage with immaculate white outfits. After a few minor adjustments, the concert finally gets underway. And it's with the instrumental"Red Virgin Soil" thatAgnes Obel chooses to start the show. Behind her upright piano, the artist looks slightly stressed and tense. But the singer-songwriter gradually relaxes as the set progresses.

This is followed by the sublime"Dorian", the captivating"Fuel to Fire" and the gripping"Camera's Rolling".Agnes Obel 's ethereal voice inevitably takes us on a journey. Incredibly transcendent, her voice blends perfectly with those of her two talented musicians, on cello and machines.

AsAgnes Obel bewitches us, shadows and images of the stage - with effects - are projected onto the screen at the back of the stage. It's easy to get carried away by this intimate, uncluttered scenography.

After a few songs, Agnes Obel finally takes the floor to thank the audience in French. "Bonsoir. Je m'appelle Agnes," she blurts out again in the language of Molière, before reverting to the language of Shakespeare. The artist takes the opportunity to announce that a new opus is due out soon. "The album is finished, it's being mixed", she says, before adding that several new tracks will be played that evening at the Salle Pleyel. Three new tracks, to be precise, were performed on Monday evening, two of which were very close to Obel's style. The third and final track, however, was a little disappointing, as it was further removed from the artist's universe.

The atmosphere rises a notch when the first notes of"Familiar" ring out. Standing behind her keyboard in the middle of the stage, Agnes Obel mesmerizes with her interpretation. This is followed by the moving"Run Cried the Crawling" and"It's Happening Again". We applaud the reorchestrations of some of the songs, which give them a new face. Special mention must go to the German-born cellist. She really won us over with her talent and perfectly mastered loops.

And the spell continues with"Philharmonics" and"Stretch Your Eyes", followed by"Words Are Dead" played solo on piano by Agnes Obel during the encore. Of course, the songwriter couldn't forget to sing her melancholy hit"Riverside", warmly applauded by the audience. The fragile, gentle voice of its interpreter pierces us to the core.

Agnes Obel rounded off this beautiful 1.5-hour concert with the haunting"The Curse". Once again, the Danish pianist and singer has proved that she belongs to that select circle of artists who cannot be ignored on the neo-classical and"champer pop" scene, thanks to her bold, modern compositions that continue to enchant us and take us on a journey.
