Gospel Dream will take up residence in October 2026 in landmark churches in the heart of some of Paris’ most beautiful neighborhoods (Champs-Elysées, La Madeleine, Saint-Michel, St Germain des Prés...). A series of exceptional concerts awaits you in these historic venues, offering an immersive musical experience powered by the strength and fervor of African American church songs. An invitation to celebrate love, hope, unity and resilience in a majestic setting, just steps from some of the capital’s architectural gems, such as the Opéra, Place de la Concorde, the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower.
For more than 30 years, Gospel Dream has celebrated life, hope and unity through gospel, a universal message that transcends borders and generations. This exceptional choir offers a true immersion in the African-American musical tradition, where every concert becomes a moment suspended in time, an invitation to spiritual connection and shared joy.
Comprising around twenty professional singers of African, Caribbean and American descent, Gospel Dream is a close-knit family united by sharing, a love of singing and faith. Dressed in mauve, these generous performers aren’t putting on a show; they joyfully share their passion. Their infectious energy and powerful vocal runs bring traditional and contemporary hymns such as "Amazing Grace", "Go Down Moses", "This Little Light of Mine" and "Oh Happy Day" to life beneath the soaring vaults of Parisian churches.
Founded more than thirty-five years ago by Alain Ajavon, Gospel Dream has its roots in a family history shaped by faith and music. Originally from Togo and Benin, Alain followed in his father’s footsteps; his father had already been producing gospel quartets in Paris. This coastal region of West Africa, deeply marked by the history of slavery, has a vibrant oral and musical culture in which singing accompanies every rite of life.
On stage, Gospel Dream passionately bears witness to the resilience of a people who found the strength to survive through the powerful message of love in gospel music. These authentic songs tell the story of slavery while sharing messages of love, resilience and peace that transcend beliefs. Gospel is their collective memory: it pays tribute to their struggles and suffering, while also conveying a message of hope and brotherhood.
Led by musical director David Kizimo and his deputy Michael Lawrence, the group brings together performers from several generations, sometimes accompanied by a saxophonist and/or pianist, creating an atmosphere where people sing, are moved, and leave with a smile and the urge to hug their neighbor.
Gospel Dream takes over iconic venues across the capital for six special concerts.
