A benefit concert to support the reconstruction of the Colombian city of Buenaventura, struck by a powerful earthquake this summer. That’s the aim of this musical event scheduled at the Palais des Congrès in Paris on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
Titled “Colombia, My Love,” this charity evening is launched at the initiative of Yuri Buenaventura. “The earth was still shaking in Buenaventura when the head of a music and dance school rang me via videoconference, in tears,” the Colombian artist said in a statement. “That call sparked my commitment to help rebuild my hometown, where music and dance play a central role in the lives of children, young people and families,” he explained.
For the occasion, the renowned Colombian salsa singer will be backed by around ten artists, including Angélique Kidjo, Chico & The Gypsies, Fally Ipupa, Ibrahim Maalouf, and MC Solaar. Note that the ticket sales opening for this charity concert is set for Wednesday, October 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the usual outlets. “All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Fundación Colombia Luz y Sonrisas to support the reconstruction of Buenaventura,” the press release states.
We remind readers that a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on August 10. Official figures put the death toll at 216, with 195 people missing and more than 1,600 injured. The disaster also left tens of thousands of buildings in ruins.
On November 1, 2026, several artists have decided to act and help rebuild Buenaventura by taking the stage. This solidarity concert will also be an opportunity to celebrate "the cultural richness of Colombia, the creativity of its artists, and the friendship that unites it with France", the press release notes.
