The Gospel Dream Choir takes over Paris’s most beautiful churches for a series of exceptional concerts in June 2026. A unique musical experience that celebrates hope, unity and resilience through the authentic gospel songs of the African-American church.

The Gospel Dream choir takes up residence in June 2026 in iconic churches at the heart of Paris’ most sought-after districts (Champs-Elysées, La Madeleine, Saint-Michel, St Germain des Prés...). A series of exceptional concerts awaits in these storied venues, delivering an immersive musical experience powered by the soul and fervor of Afro-American church singing. An invitation to celebrate love, hope, unity and resilience in a majestic setting, just steps from the capital’s architectural jewels such as the Opera, Concorde, the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower.

An Authentic Gospel Experience in the Heart of Paris

For over 30 years, Gospel Dream has been celebrating life, hope, and unity through gospel music—a powerful, universal message that transcends borders and generations. This remarkable choir offers audiences an authentic journey into the rich tradition of African-American gospel, turning each concert into a transcendent experience—an invitation to spiritual connection and shared joy.

Comprising a talented group of around twenty professional singers from Africa, the Caribbean, and the United States, Gospel Dream is a close-knit family united by a love of singing, faith, and sharing. Dressed in shades of purple, these passionate performers don’t put on a show—they share their joy and spirituality through music. Their contagious energy and powerful vocal performances bring traditional and contemporary hymns to life, echoing classics like "Amazing Grace," "Go Down Moses," "This Little Light of Mine," and "Oh Happy Day" within the majestic walls of Parisian churches.

A Cultural Heritage and a Universal Mission

Founded over thirty-five years ago by Alain Ajavon, Gospel Dream has deep roots in a family history intertwined with faith and music. Hailing from Togo and Benin, Alain followed in the footsteps of his father, who was already producing Gospel quartets in Paris. This West African coastal region, profoundly shaped by the legacy of slavery, maintains a vibrant oral and musical culture where singing is an integral part of every life ritual.

On stage, Gospel Dream passionately shares the resilience of a people who have drawn strength from the powerful message of love in gospel music. Their authentic songs tell the story of slavery while conveying messages of love, resilience, and peace that go beyond beliefs. Gospel is their collective memory: it pays tribute to struggles and suffering, but also carries a message of hope and brotherhood.

Led by Musical Director David Kizimo and his second-in-command Michael Lawrence, the group is a vibrant, cross-generational ensemble. Occasionally joined by a saxophonist and/or pianist, they craft an atmosphere that makes you sing along, feel deeply moved, and leave with a smile and a warm desire to embrace the person next to you.
