American singer-songwriter, performer, and musician Melody Gardot has been captivating audiences for the past 25 years, ever since the release of her first album, Some Lessons - The Bedroom Sessions.
Born in New Jersey and raised in Philadelphia where she made her stage debut, Melody Gardot saw her life forever changed in this Pennsylvania city. While cycling through town, she was struck by a car—a traumatic event that would set her on a new path. Following her therapist’s advice, Melody Gardot turned to music therapy as part of her recovery. From her hospital bed, she composed the six-track EP "Some Lessons - The Bedroom Sessions," and soon after, she released her debut album, produced with Glenn Barratt, titled "Worrisome Heart." The rest, as they say, is history. Her subsequent albums—"My One And Only Thrill" in 2009, "The Absence" in 2012, "Currency of Man" in 2015, and "Sunset In The Blue" in 2020—have firmly established Melody Gardot as a leading figure in the international jazz scene.
Deeply rooted in France, Melody Gardot occasionally resides there and regularly performs concerts. In June 2025, the singer and musician took to the stage at the Olympia for eight shows as part of her tour, aptly named "The Essential Tour". It was a chance for her to revisit some of her biggest hits, including "Baby I'm a Fool", "Les Etoiles", and "Morning Sun" along with "Preacherman".
For those who missed it or want to relive the moment, France Télévisions has good news: they will be broadcasting one of Melody Gardot's concerts filmed at the legendary Olympia. Tune in to France 4 on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 9 p.m. to experience Melody Gardot live on the stage of this iconic Parisian venue. Surrounded by seven musicians, including her longtime collaborator Philippe Baden-Powell on piano, Melody Gardot reflects on her 25-year career, featuring many of her most famous songs.
