On Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 4:00 PM, the Church of the Madeleine in Paris (8th arrondissement) will open its doors to the Millikan High School Choir, an American vocal ensemble renowned for the excellence of its performances and the quality of its artistic work.
Originally from Long Beach, California, the Millikan Chamber Choir brings together young singers chosen for their high musical standards and artistic commitment. The ensemble has already performed in several iconic sacred venues across Europe, including St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, the Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano), and St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh.
Under the direction of Drake York, artistic director of the Millikan High School vocal program, the choir has developed a demanding musical approach grounded in technical precision, expressive nuance, and respect for different styles.
In the exceptional acoustics of the Madeleine Church, the audience will be treated to a program that spotlights the great sacred choral repertoire. The singers will perform works by Maurice Duruflé (Notre Père), Ola Gjeilo (Ubi Caritas), Michael John Trotta (Alleluia), Ernani Aguiar (Salmo 150), and Sergei Rachmaninov (Bogoroditsye Dyevo).
The concert will also feature several American spirituals and contemporary pieces, offering a musical journey from European sacred tradition to the American vocal heritage. The program’s rich harmonies, paired with the ensemble’s youthful sensitivity, promise a moment of intense artistic and spiritual power.
Open to everyone with free admission, this concert looks set to be one of the summer’s standout musical events in Paris.
