Experience the splendor of the court of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette for a unique evening! Organized by "L'Histoire Retrouvée", renowned for its highly detailed historical reconstructions, this authentic costume ball is sure to please history buffs.
Guests at the Insurgents' Ball will be dressed in period costumes (1778-1783) to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the French royal court. Guests will be welcomed with a glass of Champagne in the Marois salons. After a cocktail reception, it's time for the ball in the upper salons, where 18th-century dances will take center stage!
While the main celebration will be the 240th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Paris, which put an end to the American War of Independence, the evening will also have a charitable dimension! Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Hermione-Lafayette association, dedicated to the restoration of the Hermione frigate.
For those less familiar with the Hermione, this historic vessel was built in 1778 at the instigation of Minister De Sartine, to support the Americans in the War of Independence. She carried the Marquis de La Fayette to America with a message of support for the American insurgents. After numerous missions, she sank in 1793, and was rediscovered in 1984 by Michel Vasquez, a passionate diver.
Since her renovation and sea trials in 2014, the frigate has completed 4 voyages and sailed over 22,000 miles. L'Hermione is currently in dry dock in the port of Bayonne in Anglet*, and can be visited!
