Good News is a musical comedy conceived by Maxime Dereymez for the troupe D’pendanse. Debuting in 2025, this new production marks an exciting milestone for the company, which was founded in 2010. Set against a modern backdrop in Paris, the show uses the city's iconic metro system as its main setting, blending contemporary storytelling with a vibrant urban feel.
The story follows Rose, a young woman with an extraordinary voice who sings in the Parisian metro. Discovered by the costume designer of an upscale cabaret, Ballroom, she’s invited to audition. Her arrival shakes up the venue’s dynamic and sparks tensions, especially with Macha, the cabaret’s star and the director’s daughter. The narrative unfolds around these intersecting lives and a secret tied to the director’s past.
The project highlights a dynamic blend of dance, music, singing, and comedy. The stage design draws on an urban, nocturnal aesthetic inspired by Paris and its underground spaces. The artistic team emphasizes that the storytelling is driven by a strong visual narrative, supported by choreographic and musical tableaux that bring it to life.
The direction and book are by Maxime Dereymez. The original music is composed by Nadé. The cast features several performers from the D’pendanse company, known for bringing together dancers from diverse backgrounds, with some gaining fame through the popular TV show Dancing with the Stars.
With Bonne Nouvelle, D’pendanse continues to expand following the success of Entre Nous, which has played in major theaters across France and Europe. This new production fits into the season of musical shows that blend storytelling with dance performance, appealing to a wide audience.
The show will be unveiled at the Dôme de Paris on Friday, May 29, 2026, followed by a nationwide tour across France.
