From March 10 to April 29, 2026, Aurélie Bargème will be performing her autobiographical show about bulimia at Funambule Montmartre, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Cows Have Beautiful Eyes Too is a personal autobiographical show written and performed by Aurélie Bargème, directed by Didier Brice. Running at Funambule Montmartre from March 10 to April 29, 2026, it explores eating disorders through a deeply personal story. The play draws from the author’s own experience, having battled bulimia between the ages of 18 and 30.

On stage, Victoire—an alter ego of Aurélie Bargème—reflects on her years battling bulimia and her journey towards recovery. Now a mother herself, she chooses to share her story with her pre-teen daughter, who is grappling with questions of body image and identity. According to the artistic dossier, the spark for writing came in 2023, amid a period of deep reflection on the themes of transmission and the pressures faced by today’s youth.

The set design centers around two key elements: a black veil and a vintage refrigerator, which serves as the narrative's focal point. This object becomes a powerful symbol of our relationship with food and acts as a passage between the past and the present. The production blends contemporary theater, live music, and choreographed sequences. Electro musician Maxime Perrin provides live accompaniment to the actresses' performances, while some scenes unfold as expressive dance transes, highlighting the physicality of the characters' inner turmoil.

alongside Aurélie Bargème, Marie Petiot brings to life several characters from the story — from the partner to the daughter, along with various figures encountered along the journey. The lighting design is by Moïse Hill, the set by Florian Guerbe, and the choreography by Nathalie Lefèvre. This 1 hour and 15 minutes performance is aimed at adult audiences and teenagers.

Produced by La Compagnie 172, this project aims to raise awareness about Eating Disorders (TCA), with studies highlighted in the dossier underscoring how common these disorders are among teenagers. Educational activities can complement the performances, engaging local schools. The show is open to audiences at the Funambule Montmartre until April 29, 2026.
