Whales, birds, wolves... Many animals are known for their melodious songs. The Philharmonie de Paris takes us on an extraordinary journey to meet these "Musicanimale", with an exhibition on view from September 20, 2022 to January 29, 2023.

The Philharmonie offers us a concert like no other, an unusual exhibition in which nature becomes a huge auditorium. The orchestra includes insects, birds, whales, wolves, cats, deer, roosters... A host of sometimes surprising artists reveal themselves in this exceptional exhibition at the Philharmonie de Paris, from September 20, 2022 to January 29, 2023. Discover Musicanimale, the great sound bestiary, and let yourself be carried away by this strange and magical experience.

The Philharmonie has conceived the Musicanimale exhibition as a great primer, taking us on a wonderful and unexpected journey. You can discover and appreciate the many songs of animals captured in the wild. Some fortyanimal species become the involuntary artists of this exhibition.

The tour also immerses us in the works of great musicians, such as Bernie Krause and Tomás Saraceno, who have drawn inspiration from these natural songs to create unique music.

This musical primer resembles a cabinet of curiosities, bringing together 150 works and immersive installations. People and animals vie with each other in inventiveness to create, together, the most beautiful sounds of the living world. Paintings, drawings, photographs, bird calls and other objects also enhance these astonishing collections.

The Musicanimale exhibition also serves to raise awareness of endangered species and ecosystems. Since 1950, thanks to bioacoustic technology, researchers and artists have been able to capture the sounds of the living world, enabling us to discover worlds we sometimes know nothing about. These testimonies give a voice to endangered species.

The Philharmonie also offers a special tour for families and children aged 6 and over. Interactive devices transform young visitors into little explorers. Manipulating sounds, investigating the links between music and sound, discovering animal songs: this exhibition is also a great way to observe and appreciate animals and their very special music.

Not forgetting workshops such as"Orchestranimal", where you can play musical games, take part in a call concert or compose your own whale song using musical instruments. For over an hour, you and your child can discover how to reproduce animal sounds, and learn a lot more about how animals communicate with each other, with the help of a children's mediator!

Come and discover Musicanimale, and take part in this unique musical experience.
