Red Star, the exhibition for the 125 years of the soccer club in Saint-Ouen

The Ile-de-France region is home to several renowned soccer clubs, including the Red Star, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary! Discover its history and that of the Stade Bauer, during a sports exhibition in Saint-Ouen, until September 22, 2023.

In addition to Paris-Saint-Germain and Paris FC, the Paris region has another major soccer club, Red Star. It is also one of the oldest, founded in 1897 by Jules Rimet. The club, which plays in the Bauer stadium in Saint-Ouen, celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2022, and the city wanted to celebrate this anniversary with an exhibition that traces its history, which can be viewed free of charge at the Tourist Information Point of the Puces de Saint-Ouen until September 22, 2023.

With this club, Jules Rimet wanted to democratize the sport, and it is done, since it is very popular, it keeps its link with the children of the city and follows the evolution of Saint-Ouen and particularly the district of the flea market, of which it is very close. TheRed Star, as it is nicknamed, has been thrilling the Audonians for years, with great sports achievements. This year, the club is in the top of the National ranking and could well go up to Ligue 2, if the players continue their efforts!

You can discover the unusual course of this club, made of failures and triumphs, major actor of French soccer at the beginning of the 20th century. From 1921 to 1923, 4 French Cups were won by the Red Star, a first! We take the opportunity to learn the history of the Bauer stadium and that of its name, currently renovated for the Olympic Games of Paris 2024.
