The Institut Giacometti is dedicating an exhibition to the artist Rebecca Warren, entitled ASensitiv, from April 21 to July 2, 2023.

An exhibition not to be missed! The Institut Giacometti invites you to discover its latest exhibition dedicated to Rebecca Warren, ASensitiv, from April 21 to July 2, 2023. The works of thecontemporary Britishartist are featured, but not only. For the occasion, a selection ofAlberto Giacometti 's works is exhibited alongside the artist's own. The sculptures of a great master of modern art meet Warren's contemporary artistic style.

A member of the Royal Academy of Arts in London since 2013, Rebecca Warren is now one of the most well-known contemporary artists of recent years. She dabbles in sculpture, wall displays, and assemblages, while paying close attention to the material as well as the form that emerges from her work. The artist depicts a real experience as a creative process, sometimes almost blind, giving meaning to her trials and errors. To meet his universe: that of Giacometti, marked by the permanent construction and deconstruction. In his figures, a struggle between two opposing directions continually emerges.

The editorial staff had the opportunity to discover this exhibition dedicated to Rebecca Warren, in the heart of theGiacometti Institute . The artist has chosen a very particular installation: nothing is left to chance, the space is occupied by seeking permanent coherence between the works. Throughout the rooms, one discovers sought-after or involuntary parallels, the fruit of chance, between the works of the British artist and those of Giacometti. The bases, supports, positions and movements of the sculptures echo each other and allow them to enter into discussion. When a Giacometti sculpture is exhibited, one finds a response from the contemporary artist alongside it. If he proposes works that work on a duo of figures, then Warren does not hesitate to exhibit them alongside his sculptures composed of two parts.

From Degas ' Little Fourteen Year Old Dancer to the novel Sherlock Holmes, Rebecca Warren draws inspiration and genius from multiple works. Her latest work, The Dead, was created specifically for the exhibition and dates from 2023. With this title - an element to which she always attaches great importance, chosen with great care - she seeks to establish a dialogue between her work and that of Giacometti, who died in 1966. Far from being a real exhumation, the artistic mirror between the two artists allows her to pay tribute to the Swiss modernist sculptor.

It is therefore a real experience, proposed at theGiacometti Institute, with a real desire to be staged by the British artist. The exhibition ASensitiv is based on an artistic encounter, also underlining the paradoxical and ambiguous aspect of the relationship between the artists and their works. An exhibition to discover without delay!
