Figurative art lovers: mark your calendars! Until October 22, it's the perfect time to immerse yourself in the world of the leading artists of this movement. Head for the Caillebotte estate in Yerres!

The exhibition Figurations, un autre art d' aujourd'hui is on show at the Maison Caillebotte, organized on behalf of the town of Yerres. The exhibition features 47 artists from 1950 to the present day, including Dado, Jean Rustin, Gilles Aillaud, Dominique Renson, Sam Szafran, Susanne Hay and many others. The figurative art style, characterized by a particular focus on line and expression, is based on real objects, but frees itself from their usual representation. Symbolically opposed to abstract art, figurative art has long been sidelined by art institutions, but today boasts a large number of international admirers and connoisseurs.

To celebrate this artistic movement, Maison Caillebotte is offering an exhibition in two locations on the estate: the Ferme Ornée and the Orangerie. The first part covers the years from 1950 to 2000, offering a wide-ranging exploration of this period. The second part, in the Orangerie, is dedicated to young, emerging artists. This initiative is intended to complement the first tour by giving the most recent artists, whether they specialize in painting or drawing, an opportunity to exhibit their creations.

Historically, the Maison Caillebotte was acquired by the famous artist's family in 1860, to transform it into a summer residence. Located in the charming town of Yerres, the property is a veritable architectural treasure trove steeped in history. The house itself is an exceptional example of the bourgeois architecture of the period, with its elegant façade and meticulous neo-Renaissance details. The grounds surrounding the house are equally impressive, with extensive formal gardens, picturesque ponds and shady avenues. Gustave Caillebotte, a symbol of the Impressionist movement in France, painted over 80 canvases in the house. Today, the Caillebotte estate houses a museum dedicated to his legacy, featuring his own works, those of other renowned artists, and various exhibitions.
