Contemporary Korean prints: a free exhibition of graphic arts at the Musée Cernuschi

Well-known to lovers of Asian art, the Musée Cernuschi unveils some very fine exhibitions every year. Recently, for example, the sublime museum nestled on the edge of the Parc Monceau showcased ink in motion, followed by the work of Korean artist Kim Tschang-Yeul and photographs of Japan by Felice Beato (1832-1909). This spring, the Musée Cernuschi is exhibiting Japanese prints from the Jean and Yvonne Tavernier collection in the installation " Reflets du Japon au tournant de la modernité ".

But that's not all, as the Parisian museum is also unveiling its new graphic arts display, featuring contemporary Korean prints. On view free of charge from March 19 to June 9, 2024 in the Salle Peinture, this small installation presents a selection of 7 contemporary works from the museum's collection of Korean prints.

It's an opportunity for experts and novices alike to discover this graphic art, often perceived as an ancient form of creation. This spring, the Musée Cernuschi has therefore decided to give pride of place to this field, which has been reinvested by visual artists as an artistic field in its own right, each time revealing different techniques and styles of great richness.

Note that this selection of 7 contemporary Korean prints will be enhanced by other prints from the museum's collections, and will be exhibited on a rotating basis in the room dedicated to the graphic arts on the permanent tour.

The Musée Cernuschi is the museum of Asian arts in Paris, tracing the history of Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese peoples since Neolithic times.
