Dreamed Japan, images of the floating world: the immersive exhibition transports us to the Atelier des Lumières.

Welcome to Japan as a land of samurai and geishas, the Japan of Hokusai and other artists, the dreamt Japan on display at the Atelier des Lumières. First presented in 2019, the exhibition Japon rêvé, images du monde flottant returns to the Paris digital-art center, with screenings every Monday, Thursday and Friday from July 3 to September 13, 2026 for an exceptional summer highlight you won’t want to miss.

This short exhibition is shown in the second half of the program, after the Van Gogh exhibition. Le Japon rêvé invites us to plunge into a collective imagination of warriors, ancient customs, mythological spirits and magnified nature.

Cherry bl ossoms, festive lanterns, sacred mountains and forests, honored animals and spirits, delicate courtesans and virile warriors: Japan is the stuff of many fantasies, nourished by Japanese and Western art from the 17th to the 20th century.

In this immersive exhibition, theAtelier des Lumières invites us to rediscover this collective imaginary that continues to this day. All around us, on the floor and walls, works of art come to life, immersing us in this rich universe. From cherry blossom to Hokusai's wave, from a magical forest to a folkloric bestiary, from geisha kimonos to samurai warrior dance , visitors can admire the great elements of Japanese culture.

For this, several major Japanese artists are featured... Alongside European artists strongly influenced by Japan and its symbols. Admire works by Kuniyoshi, Utamaro, Kunisada or Van Gogh to the rhythm of a playlist specially composed for this exhibition.
