Two years after its inaugural edition, the festival of Digital Art returns to the heart of a historic monument on the outskirts of Paris. The rendezvous takes place in the charming town of Vincennes, on the Paris Metro line 1. Nestled along the Bois de Vincennes, this Val-de-Marne commune, where life is good, is best known for its emblematic monument: the Château de Vincennes. The castle lies at the heart of this artistic program, which runs from 15 October to 8 November 2026.
Nuits de Lumière (formerly Vincennes, Château de Lumières) is the name of this luminous festival that highlights digital art in Vincennes. Over 16 evenings, from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., the city becomes a stage for art. Enthusiasts and the curious are invited to stroll among digital artworks, sometimes interactive.
In total, roughly a dozen international artists are lined up for this festival, imagined under the artistic direction of Régis Clouzet and Jésus Baptista: Angelo Bonello (Italy), Maxime Touroute (France), WHYIXD (Taiwan), Candela 550 (France), Kairos (France), AlexP (Netherlands), Romain Tardy (France / Belgium), Bruno Ribeiro (France), Amadeo Savio (France), Jésus Baptista (France / Portugal), A.I.L.O. (France), Daniel Rossa (Germany), Studio Inook (France) and the collective HAASKR (France / Portugal). It will unfold across as many stages, unveiling luminous works along the route.
Last year, you could also catch the centerpiece from the royal court at the Château de Vincennes, where a monumental projection on the façade of the Historic Monument could be enjoyed via a sound-and-light show. The route was, however, fairly short and quite contemplative at most stops. If you’re after a more immersive or interactive experience, it may not quite meet your expectations. On the other hand, if you’re looking for visually striking scenography to photograph or you enjoy meditative works, this is a lovely outing to consider. That said, it will depend on the works presented this year, this assessment based on what was shown in the first edition.
The town of Vincennes also specifies that the event has been designed to limit the carbon footprint of this artistic event organized jointly with the Centre des Monuments Nationaux and the Service historique de la défense des Armées: "The lighting will be LED and the video projectors laser technology for controlled energy consumption. On-site catering stands will feature organic and local produce".
