From October 10, 2025 to January 25, 2026, the Jeu de Paume in Paris is devoting a major retrospective exhibition to Luc Delahaye, photographer and former reporter. A major figure in contemporary photography, the artist is renowned for his large-format documentary images, blending art, history and current affairs. The exhibition brings together some forty emblematic works, a video and several original installations specially designed for the event.
A former war photojournalist for Libération and Magnum Photos, Luc Delahaye gradually moved away from photojournalism to develop an artistic approach to documentary photography. His work, which straddles the line between eyewitness accounts and artistic creation, explores the major political and social upheavals of the contemporary world, from the war in Iraq to international conferences such as the COP. Through monumental framing, he questions the place of the image in our relationship with history and reality.
This exhibition at the Jeu de Paume, the first in Paris since 2006, invites us to reflect on the relationship between art and reality. As Luc Delahaye explains:"To arrive, through a form of absence, through a form of unconsciousness perhaps, at a unity with reality. A silent unity. This approach is reflected in his works, which are at the crossroads of current affairs and artistic contemplation.
