For three days, historians, writers and artists will explore the figures of "Heroines and Heroes of the Arab World" through round tables, screenings and performances, during the Journées de l'Histoire, from March 14 to 16, 2025, at the Institut du monde arabe.

TheInstitut du Monde Arabe will be hosting its eleventh Journées de l'Histoire, from March 14 to 16, 2025, a not-to-be-missed event for history and culture enthusiasts. This year's event explores the theme of"Heroines and Heroes of the Arab World", from Antiquity to the present day. A chance to (re)discover the emblematic figures, real or legendary, who have shaped our collective imagination, from Saladin to Cleopatra, Aladdin to the anonymous heroes of the Arab Spring.

Three days of meetings, debates, screenings and artistic performances, free of charge but with advance booking, await you, not forgetting the Grand Prix du Livre des Journées de l'Histoire, which honors the most innovative works on the history of the Arab world.

  • Dominique Eddé's inaugural lecture on heroism
  • Round-table discussions on Abdel-Kader, hero of both shores, and the struggle against the erasure of women.
  • Conferences on the history of Cleopatra, Aladdin and superheroes in Arab comics and graphic novels
  • A meeting on the heroes of Arab stadiums
  • Themed film screenings followed by meetings with the directors
  • A concert inspired by the tales of the Arabian Nights
  • The Journées de l'Histoire Book Prize, awarded to a major work on the history of the Arab world.
