Design invites itself toAbbaye de Maubuisson... From April 6 to August 31, 2025, the Abbaye will be hosting a monograph devoted to Marie-Ange Guilleminot, entitled Construis toi-même l'espace où tu vis, or "Build your own space where you live". The exhibition is part of the artist's research into the modularity of space and the relationship between architecture and the body, echoing the work of Lygia Clark. Through a series of works and installations, the project invites reflection on habitat, movement and interaction with heritage sites.

Theexhibition revolves around the concept of La Maison-de-Vie, an approach the artist has been developing since the 2000s. The project is based on an appropriation of space and a reflection on " our relationship to time (past, present and future) ". The installation takes place in the specific setting of theAbbaye de Maubuisson, a historic site whose architectural features directly influence the staging of the works. The artist points out that " each invitation to an art institution [...] brings with it an updating of the works and the space that houses them, and by the same token, of their meanings ".

One of the main thrusts of theexhibition is the interaction between the works and the visitors. A film shot in the abbey features the latter, as well as the site's professionals, their presence becoming an integral part of the project. The Meuble spirale (2012), another emblematic work, illustrates this modularity, adapting to reception areas and multiple uses. Similarly, the installation Touchez-Voir (2015) offers a sensory experience based on touch and the manipulation of objects, questioning the perception of space through the senses.

Through this exhibition, Marie-Ange Guilleminot questions the place of art in a heritage environment and its capacity to offer a renewed reading of it. " Is constructing one's own space an invitation to free oneself from limits by mixing art with life? " asks the artist. With this approach, the exhibition is part of a dialogue between past and present, between the memory of places and contemporary transformations.
